Science without Borders offers top Brazilian students two scholarship options:
Four year PhD at the University of Toronto: Science without Borders provides up to four years of full funding (tuition, travel and living) and up to two months of language training. A fifth year may be supported by the U of T, if necessary.  There can be no extension of the PhD beyond five years.
12 months as a visiting PhD student: for students pursuing a PhD in Brazil, to conduct research in a U of T lab. Science without Borders provides funding to cover travel and living expenses.
The application process proceeds as follows:

  1. Apply to the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE).
  2. Apply to the University of Toronto department of your choice. If the application deadline has passed, and if a professor has expressed an interest in supervising you, then notify the department to which you are applying and request that they open the application system for you.
  3. If we offer you conditional admission to a PhD program, you then apply for a Science without Borders scholarship.
